ACT Africa proudly joined regional partners in Nairobi for the Communities in Preparedness and Response to Pandemics (COPPER) convening — a powerful platform that reaffirmed the central role of community engagement in building resilient health systems and advancing pandemic preparedness across Africa.
Over three impactful days, we:
Reflected on best practices in community engagement, meaningful community participation, and community-led monitoring Shared African-driven lessons on strengthening primary health care and accountability Highlighted how empowered communities lead effective pandemic prevention and response Shaped priorities for Global Fund GC8 and national health strategies Strengthened cross-country collaboration and south-south learningThe meeting reinforced that community engagement is essential communities are not beneficiaries, they are leaders, experts, and co-designers of resilient health systems.
