Final Day of ACT Africa Regional Learning and Advocacy Meeting: began with renewed energy as Ghana, Zambia, and Namibia CE SI partners took the stage to share how communities are leading the way driving accountability, strengthening governance, and transforming health systems from the ground up. 💪
Their stories reminded everyone that community engagement (CE) isn’t a side activity it’s the backbone of effective and equitable health governance.
🎙 The panel discussions that followed were powerful and reflective, exploring key questions:
🔹 What does a truly community-driven CCM and NSP process look like?
🔹 How can affected communities influence decision-making at all levels?
🔹 How can CE be institutionalized beyond donor projects as part of national systems?
🔹 What factors are critical to make CE sustainable in PHC and PPR?
💭 The consensus was clear: sustainable CE requires political will, long-term financing, and strong institutional frameworks that recognize communities as equal partners in health governance.
🤝 The group work sessions built on these insights, as participants identified lessons and crafted advocacy messages around:
1️⃣ Sustaining CE in PHC, PPR & TB governance
2️⃣ Promoting gender equity and rights in TB
3️⃣ Engaging policymakers and national programs for meaningful participation
Each group left with one shared conviction when communities lead, health systems thrive. ❤
